For this edition, we have Sjoerd (@sjoerds_) from the Netherlands. He modified his own Opinel combining his two favorite hobbies of knives and creative work!
Featured Tools:
Knife: Benchmade 707 Sequel
Multi-tool: Victorinox Cadet
Wallet: El Monedero Leather Wallet
Modified Knife: Opinel Nr.8
Background:
Sjoerd is currently an art student based out of the Netherlands. He became interested in knives when he was just 8 years old, when he was gifted an old pocket knife from his father. For a few years, he collected old bayonets and swords. A big fan of history (especially the medieval times and the World Wars), Sjoerd collected old bayonets and swords for a few years. However, he realized that he wanted to start using knives as tools, rather than collection pieces. About a year ago, he started developing his passion for everyday carry tools, especially knives and multi-tools.
Being a creative, he started modifying a few Opinels...and started getting a lot of compliments on them from the knife community...to the point where he even sold a few!
Favorite EDC Tool:
Sjoerd tells us that a big problem he has in Holland is that most folks think knives are weapons rather than tools. So that's why he prefers a more refined, gentleman style carry. Out of all his tools, he never leaves his house without a Victorinox Cadet! He says that they are great because they are affordable, aren't intimidating to others, and still provide plenty of functionality for daily use. Sjoerd often pairs his Cadet with a Benchmade 707 Sequel for his heavier tasks.
Hey Juan, I reached out to Sjoerd for you – will let you know what he says! :)
