Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
If you think looking after a single kid is tough, try raising 4 of them. From Barwick, Georgia, we talk to Jeremy (@jpoppell85) who’s a proud stay-at-home dad of 4 young kids. Jeremy has always carried a knife but only started getting into other aspects of it after interacting with the EDC community on Facebook. Read on for Jeremy’s full rig rundown, and find out what’s next on his gear radar!
Featured Tools:
- Knife: Jason Taber
This is my Lanny’s clip made by Jason Taber. This really is my grail knife and Jason absolutely nailed it.
- SAK: Victorinox Small Tinker
This is my workhorse knife that gets used for changing batteries in my kid's toys, sharpening their pencils, light prying, and a hundred other things. It’s got a great toolset for its size and it was the original MacGyver model.
-
Hank: Beard and Owl
They do fantastic work and it gets used a good bit for the usual wiping sweat/noses.
- Flashlight: Olight i3T
I use a light constantly. I like how this one has only two modes so you don’t have to keep cycling through and it has a very handy 5 lumen low. I like the price on these as well since I lose lights constantly.
- Watch: Seiko SRP777
I've got this on a Toxic Nato strap. I like how it’s a good balance between a nice watch and reasonable enough that a couple of scratches won’t bother you. The strap is extremely soft and comfortable.
Background:
I live in a tiny town called Barwick, Georgia in the southwest part of the state. Currently, I’m a stay-at-home dad of 4 small children.
I’ve carried a knife since childhood but started getting into the other aspects of it after joining a few Facebook groups.
During my free time, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and reading. I’ve been reading more than the others lately. Of all my interests, I think I enjoy reading the most, but it could be because it’s easier to make time for.
Favorite EDC Tool:
Of the pictured items the Lanny’s clip is my favorite carry item. It turned out exactly the way I had pictured it in my head and has some amazing stag. If you’re speaking of favorite tool, in general, I’m very happy with my most recent Atwood. Peter reintroduced his E115 design a few weeks ago and it is everything I’d want in a pocket tool.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
Next, I would like to get one of Robert Lessard’s custom SAK mods.
