Featured Tools:
- Knife 01: Hinderer
My folding knife is a Hinderer 3.5 xm-18 Bowie. This is a really great EDC blade because it's a do-it-all size that can handle any daily task. I love the overall construction and blade shape. A bonus is that it's made right here in Ohio. -
Knife 02: JRS Neckr
This simple 1095 blade is very handy for daily work, and is really easy to keep razor sharp. Its size and weight make it easy to carry all day in the back pocket. I really like a small fixed blade as a companion to a folder. In my dirty daily work environment it's nice to have a dedicated hard use blade.
- Light: Surefire G2X Pro
This is a simple clicky with straightforward high and low modes. It runs for days, and is easy to use one handed. I use a light multiple times a day, and this is a solid reliable light.
- Multi-tool: Leatherman Blast
This is a must have for me. I'm always in need of pliers, drivers, and wire cutters. A multi-tool does it all in one small package.
- Watch: G-Shock GW-6900
The classic 6900 case wears well in any setting. This module is my favorite. Solar power, atomic timekeeping, and world time are my favorite features. Very solid and reliable watch.
- Wallet: Hitch and Timber Card Caddy
This card caddy is a great system. It holds my minimal cash and cards, a Fisher bullet space pen, and my favorite little pocket tool. The pocket tool is a JW Knives Bandicoot.
- Chapstick: Handmade Copper Sleeve
I use this with the classic Burt’s Bees. I work outside every day, and keeping my lips protected is a high priority.
- Keys: SLCO Scout Hook
I keep my keys simple and lightweight. The Scout Hook is a simple and cool everyday item that keeps my keys hooked on my pants.
- Notebook + Hank: Rite in the Rain, Hitch and Timber Hank
The RITR notebooks are super durable, and keep my notes organized. I love a hank for personal cleanliness, and as an emergency first aid option.
- Firearm: Glock 26 Gen 03
I carry this in an Armatus Carry Kydex holster. I feel very blessed to live in The United States of America where the right to bear arms is protected by the second amendment. I have a permit to carry issued by the state of Ohio and exercise my privilege to do so daily. In my rural area, a firearm is a tool used for pest and predator management as well as personal protection. The Glock 26 is a perfect size and weight for daily carry in this role.
Background:
My name is Micah Byrd. I'm a husband and father of 3 (soon to be 4). By day I'm a third generation precast concrete producer in Ohio. I spend my free time on home renovation and DIY projects with my wife. I love spending time outdoors adventuring with the kids and exploring in my jeep.
I've been interested in personal preparedness and gear since I was young. Growing up, I was very active in Boy Scouts, and always loved preparing for adventures. In late 2011, I stumbled upon edcforums in my search for a new pocket knife. I was hooked instantly.
I had no idea there was a complete subculture of folks interested in everyday gear. From then on I've been on a never-ending quest for the perfect everyday gear. Along with discovering like-minded folks interested in everyday gear, I was quickly drawn to photographing EDC related gear.
My wife, who is professional portrait photographer, encouraged me to start an Instagram account and turned me loose with a smartphone camera. Things have evolved since, from a smartphone to learning to shoot with a DSLR. The whole creative process is so addictive and rewarding!
Favorite EDC Tool:
Of all my EDC items I enjoy my knives the best. They are the essential everyday tools. Hinderer, and Emerson are two of my favorite brands. As a whole, the thing I love most about everyday carry, is the people. I've met so many great folks, and I'm forever thankful for their friendship.
great, how do you carry all your stuff

I like the set up. I am wondering if you carry a reload for the Glock? I have found the left leg pocket on my dungarees carries a full size mag with a magpul base plate really well and the magpul makes access easy.
