Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
From the lovely city of Edmonton, Alberta, we have James (@canadiancanuck11) with us today to share his everyday carry. James is a finish carpenter by trade, and a natural outdoorsman at heart. Read on for the full rig rundown of James’ rugged yet refined everyday carry.
Featured Tools:
- Knife 01: ESEE Candiru
The ESEE Candiru is my smallest workhorse. It is great looking, sturdy, compact, and fun to beat on. When the Candiru comes out, chances are there is a tool more suitable for the job but I can't help myself from using it.
- Knife 02: Boker Kwaiken
The Boker Kwaiken is the newest addition to my collection. It was recently purchased off a friend on Instagram. The outstanding work done on this knife is the handiwork by another fellow Instagram knife enthusiast. He did an outstanding job making the titanium look like a woodgrain.
- SAK: Victorinox Farmer
The Victorinox SAK has become a staple in my EDC. It is a great size for everyday use and I barely notice it in my pocket. I use it for opening cans, cutting food during my lunch break and the odd saw cut.
- Flashlight: Olight S1A
My collection of lights is quickly growing but I can't seem to kick the Olight S1A Baton out of my pocket. It pumps out a great amount of light for such a small piece of gear. As bright as it is, my favorite feature of the light has to be the magnetic tailcap.
- Multi-tool: Leatherman OHT
My Leatherman OHT was one of the first pieces of EDC I got. I can't recommend it enough. I used this for roughly 2 years straight and it handled everything I threw at it. The more I abuse it the more I love the look.
Background:
I love the outdoors. I spend as much time as I can out at my cabin, going on canoeing trips with friends and backwoods camping. I try to get out for a trip every weekend in the summer. I am fortunate enough to live so close to some truly beautiful areas.
I got into EDC a few years ago when I came across r/edc and r/knife_club on reddit. Then I started following some EDC pages on Instagram and soon I had created a page dedicated to EDC gear. I absolutely love the generosity in this wonderful community.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite item shown here is probably the Victorinox Farmer. I have a growing collection of SAK's and it is slowly becoming an addiction. Across my entire collection, my favorite piece of EDC gear would have to be my modified Benchmade Mini Grip.
Next On Your Gear Radar:
Next on the gear radar is probably a tanto Chris Reeve Sebenza or an Umnumzaan.
