Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
This week, we talk to Jason (@jasonhamre) who works as a product photographer. Jason specializes in photographing knives (lucky guy) for product catalogues, and his work has probably influenced a fair share of us into adding yet another blade into our collection. Read on to find out all about Jason’s simple yet highly capable everyday carry.
Featured Tools:
- Knife: Chris Reeve Sebenza Insingo
I've had this knife for years now, it's my main everyday carry knife. I cycle through a few others depending on the situation, but the profile of the Insingo grind is really fantastic for everyday use.
- Watch: Stowa Flieger
I always have a wristwatch on, the Stowa has been my favorite for a few years now. I love the simplistic, easy to read face, date function and the absence of any logo. With the watch, I have a custom Man Belt & Leather strap with an original equipment Stowa bracelet deployment.
- Pen: S.T Dupont:
I love fountain pens and S.T Dupont has been a company I've always admired. I use this mainly for signing documents and writing notes to myself.
-
Wallet: Tumi
I like a low-profile wallet and don't find myself carrying much paper money, so this style fits my needs perfectly.
- Handkerchief: The Hill Side
I use a handkerchief as an accessory item to everyday tasks, like cleaning a surface for putting items on, opening doors, drying hands, etc.
- Coin: Personal
This is a personal token that I've been carrying for a while now. It serves no utilitarian purpose, just something to keep in my pocket to fiddle with.
- Lens Cap: Nikon
This is a placeholder for my camera - a Nikon D750 (which I'm using for this shot). I always have my camera with me and this cap goes to my favorite lens, a 105mm f/2.8.
Background:
My name is Jason Hamre but everyone calls me Hammer. I'm a product photographer based in Gladstone, Michigan. I specialize in e-commerce product catalogues, specifically in the knife industry for the last six years. I currently produce the in-house product photography for DLT Trading.
When I have free time I love watching movies and my hobbies revolve around photography, woodworking, and weightlifting.
I'd always been engaged in making sure I was prepared for the day, but I didn't discover the community until I was in my early 20s. I took my first EDC related photo in April, 2010 and as they say, the rest is history.
Favorite EDC Tool:
Out of all the items that I carry daily, my camera is my most favorite. Photography has always been a passion for me and pursuing that passion every day is what drives me.
Next On Your Gear Radar:
I haven't augmented my daily carry for some time, so the next gear acquisitions I'll be making will most likely be photography related, like a Nikkor 14-24mm 2.8G ED wide-angle zoom.
