Doing what he does best, Enrique Peña unites the world of traditional slip joint knives with modern, tactical blades in the form of the Peña X Series Front Flipper Zulu. Here we're treated to a high-performance production blade done up in custom Peña style – what’s not to love?
Working in special collaboration with Reate Knives (who has more than proven their ability and credentials as one of the foremost knife producers), the Front Flipper Zulu has all the allure and classic design of the traditional knives we all know and love, but with the unmistakable Peña treatment.
The satin-finished Bohler M390 Zulu blade (which first appeared in a 1920s Schrade Catalog), is a slightly different take on the common spear blade. With its dropped point, it creates a remarkable change in shape and attractiveness (and is among the most desirable of blade shapes for slip joint enthusiasts). Running on ceramic ball bearings, it features a subtle front flipper and nail nick that will please the purists.
The handle scales come in your choice of Green or Natural Micarta, Jigged Titanium, and Carbon Fiber – so there's literally something for every taste. For a more timeless feel, go with the micarta options. For something more modern, you can't go wrong with titanium or carbon fiber. A milled tip-up pocket clip completes this modern classic that exudes all the old-world charm of a traditional blade with modern, innovative touches.
