According to Paul (@abtplunder), it wasn’t him that got into EDC, it was EDC that got him. We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. From Kiel, Germany, Paul works as a freelance graphic designer and in his free time, he enjoys photography and being outdoors. Read on for the full rig rundown of Paul’s elegantly rugged and beautifully captured daily carry.
Featured Tools:
- Knife: Great Eastern Cutlery #47 Viper
I'm really into the traditional knives by GEC since I first came in touch with them. Started with my first in October last year, and now I own about 8 of them. I really like the nice Titanium frame locks too, but due to very questionable knife laws, you're not allowed to carry most of them here in Germany.
- Swiss Army Knife: Custom Victorinox Tinker
Versatility. If you don't carry a Leatherman, carry a SAK. Because who knows what might happen and when you might need it. And the custom brass scales from dailycustoms.shop are just awesome.
- Flashlight: Lumintop Tool AAA Brass
Why do I like it? For me, it’s the look, the patina and the size. I don't need a light which can illuminate airports. But for essential everyday tasks, I find this size and output just perfect.
- Watch. Seiko SSB165P1
I always wear a watch. Normally very simplistic, no smart stuff, no-nonsense. This one I just fell in love with at first sight and I’ve been wearing it every day for a few weeks straight. Even got me some straps in different colors to match my daily gear.
- Compass: MecArmy Keychain Compass
I like compasses. It's not that I really go out hiking, get lost and have to find my way home. I can’t really explain, it’s just the idea of having something that helps you find your way.
- Pen: Machine Era Co. Field Pen
You need a pen. Enough said. This is one I like. Especially the clip/bolt action and solid brass body.
Background:
For me, EDC is collecting, and the best thing is that it's actually usable. It's the coolest manly stuff in the world. I didn't get into EDC, it got me. For real. No joke. I always had one or more knives, since I was a little boy. I only discovered the whole EDC universe about a year ago.
When I'm not hunting down my next piece of gear, I like to hang out with friends or go outside photographing or spend some quality time with my wife.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite item is very hard to answer. Depends on the task of course. If I had to decide maybe it's the Northwoods Fremont Jack. Just perfect shapes.
Next On Your Gear Radar:
The OD Green Massdrop Lumintop Light which is coming up in the close future.
