From Scandinavia, Mark (@patinaedc) is a self-professed addict when it comes to leather and brass (and it shows). A firm proponent of patina, Mark takes it to the next level with his thoughtfully assembled everyday carry that is both highly practical and fantastically stylish. Read on to learn all about Mark’s lovingly patinated carry, and find out what’s next on his gear radar (it’s neither brass nor leather).
Featured Tools:
This is my carry for today. Each and every one of these items continuously finds itself back in my rotation. I always carry a main blade, some sort of multitool, a light, and a pen.
- SAK: Victorinox
This is my Pioneer 2017 LTD in an olive green colorway.
- Utility Tool: Griffin Pocket Tool
Also in solid brass.
- Flashlight: Prometheus Beta QrV2
It’s a given, also in solid brass.
- Pen: Tactile Turn Glider
No prizes for guessing that it’s made from solid brass!
- Caddy: Hitch & Timber Notebook Caddy 2.0
All of the above tools are stored in the Hitch & Timber Notebook Caddy 2.0 in English Tan. Also in the Caddy is a brass whistle, Field Notes, and my cards are stored in two card slots in the back.
- Knife: Benchmade Bugout
The Notebook Caddy could in and of itself be one's EDC, but I usually want a dedicated blade. Today (and honestly quite often) this is the Benchmade Bugout with Flytanium brass scales.
Ok, I know the Bugout is known for its lightweight, but come on.. look at it! It looks so good, and the added weight does not bother me. It makes the knife feel more substantial. And no one ever talks about the sound difference, but man! It even sounds more substantial. I love the profile of this knife, and in my opinion, this is a perfect EDC knife. And that deep carry clip...👌🏻
- Keys: KeyBar
Alright, keys! Brass, deep carry – see a connection? The KeyBar in brass with deep carry clip is a staple in my EDC. I love the simplicity of it. My keys actually get quite frequent use during any given day, so the organization and ease of use are much appreciated.
- Watch: Jack Mason Brand Aviator JM-A102
Keeping track of time without my phone is very important to me, and I really want to get more into watches (sorry Mr Shabazz, I think I’m about to get into watches). The one that finds itself on my wrist is a Jack Mason Brand Aviator JM-A102 on a Nato Strap Co band. It keeps good time and matches the aesthetics of my carry, so I’ve been happy.

Hank: Mighty Hanks
Finally, my trusted hank. My Mighty Hanks Brown Suit is always in my pocket, and it is fantastic for wiping phone screens, sunglasses, and take care of the occasional spill from my daughter.
What's your story:
My name is Mark and I am based in Scandinavia. Some of you might know about some of our crazy knife laws, but let me assure you that I carry legally.
You can carry knives/tools for work if you need them, and I do. I work as a backline technician for a company leasing musical gear for concerts etc. I got into EDC very young, and I’ll be honest - MacGyver had a lot to do with it!
Also, multitools are very handy to keep when your hobby is music. For me, as a guitarist, the need for pliers are somewhat frequent.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My Bugout is currently my favorite item.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
I need to get my hands on a LynchNW Pry bar! So hard though...
Nice carry brother!
