From Indiana, by way of New York, we talk to Bart (@bugoutbart). As an IT technician (an ex-Marine), Bart puts his EDC to good use – from prying apart laptops to popping open a cold beverage. Read on for the full rig rundown, and find out more all about Bart's color-coordinated carry!
Featured tools:
- Knife: Spyderco PM3 Lightweight
The Spyderco PM3 is, as its name implies, lightweight, compact and the perfect size to carry in dress pants. It's a good size blade and not too heavy to daily use.
- SAK: Classic SD with an AmmO Lanyard
I carry this with an AmmO Lanyard that I made. It's always handy to have a file, tweezers and scissors. I have rescued plenty of small screws from laptops the I am working on with these tweezers.
- Pry: Pacific Prybar
This is an IronBull Slinger and Lynch Northwest collaboration. I use it all the time for prying apart laptops, removing LCD's, opening boxes and cold beverages. This is one of my favorite pieces of EDC gear because it has so many uses and it saves my blade.
- Pen: Fisher Space Pen
This little pen is always handy when you are away from your desk and need to take down a note.
- Flashlight: Olight Baton S1R II
Olight Baton S1R II is used daily when trying to find a screw I dropped or looking for a port in the network closet.
- Hank: Custom
Hank is carried mostly to protect my colored gear from bagging around in my pocket.
My story:
My name is Bart and I live in Indiana and work as an IT technician, but I grew up in the Adirondack Park in upstate New York.
I love the woods, mountains and being in nature. started carrying a pocket knife at a young age because I was always in the woods. I carried daily in my career as a United States Marine until I retired and started working in IT.
In last 5 or 6 years I have really started to color coordinate my carry as I was tired of the black or live drag life and wanted my gear to pop.
I like EDC gear, shooting, craft beer, grilling and traveling to explore new areas of nature and finding waterfalls.
Favorite EDC tool:
Definitely my Pacific Prybar. I use it all the time for prying apart laptops, removing LCD's, opening boxes and cold beverages. This is one of my favorite pieces of EDC gear because it has so many uses and it saves my blade.
What's on my gear radar:
I am always on the look out for new and colorful gear. Hoping for a lime green Spyderco PM3 Lightweight.
Awesome feature! Bart is one of the best!
