Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature a member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
From down under, we speak to (@raffco_edc) who dedicates his time and energy to supporting disadvantaged youths in the community. An avid knife enthusiast, Raffaele cut his teeth and acquired his love for blades while working for his dad in the kitchen! Read on for Raffaele's gloriously golden carry, and find out the meaningful story behind his custom Coin of Strength.
Featured Tools:
- Watch: Omega Speedmaster Professional
Such an iconic timepiece and a great recommendation for anyone looking for their first 'good watch'. Absolutely bulletproof and can be paired with any strap and still look amazing.
- Worry stone: Riverstone
A gift from my better half, many years ago. Serves no practical function but has been in my pocket at some pivotal points in my life.
- Knife: Urban EDC F5.5
This features the acid wash M390 blade and Black Denim Micarta scales. Smooth action with a snappy detent. Voxnaes ergonomics paired with the M390 Sheepsfoot blade make this so easy to carry.
- Pocket tool: Vero Mini Fulcrum
With the Wiha bits, this is a tiny pocket tool kit.
- Flashlight: Fenix E12
Not a big flashlight guy but these are well made and good value.
- Pen: Tactile Turn Side Click Pen
Beautifully machined and super fidgety.
- Hank: Black Raven Hanks
Australian made hank that I should have ironed before I took this photo.
What's your story:
I'm a transplanted New Zealander living in Australia. Jack of all trades. Run the widely unwatched 'GearSlob' Youtube channel and the poorly followed Instagram account (@gearslob) of the same name.
Have carried a SAK most of my adult life and had an appreciation of the gadgets we carry before hearing the term 'EDC'. Decided to raise my knife game, in lockdown, a couple of years ago...
Favorite EDC Tool:
A toss up between the Protech Malibu and the F5.5. Don't make me choose...
What's On Your Gear Radar:
Continuing down the knife and EDC rabbithole. There's so many different knives and blade steels to try. Recently acquired my first pouch and am looking to engage more with what is a pretty cool community.
