Hitting and melting steel every day for the past 20 years, Steve (@knife.thru.the.lens) is living proof that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a single day in your life. Featured Tools:
- Coin: Carpe Diem EDC
It’s a coin that I carry daily as a reminder to live in the moment. The translation is as follows. Tempus Fugit, Momento Mori, Fac Vitam Incredibilem, Memento Vivere – Time Flies, Remember Death, Make an Incredible Life, Remember To Live.
- Bottle Opener: Vox Designs Sulky Sportster Seahorse
As far as I can remember I’ve loved sea creatures and this one rides in my pocket most of the time. This is the first Sulky Sportster Seahorse ever made and works well for those days that extra weight is needed when SHTF. It’s made from Marine Steel with some tattoos.
- Folder: GiantMouse Knives GMP2
This titanium liner lock Bowie style M390 blade is my favorite Pirate Edition as of yet. The designers Jesper Voxnæs and Jens Ansø with Jim Wirth really knocked it out of the park. This knife is ready for anything you can throw at it. - Fixed Blade: GiantMouse Knives SSU-GMF1
This knife was a group buy that I was fortunate enough to help out with. The M390, 5mm thick satin blade is such a perfect EDC for urban city carry. I use this for quick situations where I need to open anything up without having the tactical scare when pulling out most knives in public. I've stacked the Combat Beads Civilian and Reload beads on this for some extra flare.
- Prybar and Beads: Combat Beads Prybar with Titanium MOAB Bead
The titanium prybar makes for a perfect pocket carry to open up beers and anything that needs a little force to open. The clip makes it ideal for the 5th pocket.
Background:
My name is Steve, and I live in Ontario, Canada. I work as a Fitter Welder at a custom fab shop. I’ve been doing this for about 20 years and love hitting and melting steel every day.
I also do photography as a hobby on the side for some companies in the EDC world. I started doing photography for race cars on the track for five years then moved on to the EDC world. I've also dabbled in portraits and family photos.
I’ve always loved doing photography as I get to capture what I see in this world for others to view. Capturing the moment and being able to freeze it in time is something I covet.
I got into knives at a very early age. I remember the first knife that got me into collecting was a brass 2” butterfly knife (still have it to this day). I carried this knife daily and loved the idea about having a tool with me at all times – just as my father has for most of his life. I moved on to a lot of different knives and companies throughout my years.
Favorite EDC Tool:
This is a hard one, but I love my GMP2 but also any knife that the GiantMouse team puts out. They have such a wide range that for any life situation they have you covered.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
I’m getting a custom F7 and Casino from Jesper Voxnaes and Jens Ansø. I would also love to be able to get an Orso from Jens and an F5 from Jesper. Some other items I’d like to acquire from would be the Koenig Mini Goblin in plain jane titanium or a BBM from Rob Carter & Nick Chuprin! The list is ever growing! It’s a great time to be a knife collector.
