Inspired by Claude, the once beloved albino alligator at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco (RIP Claude) – the 'Claude’ White Alligator RE Patch is a celebration of individuality and having the guts to stand out, be different, and simply come as you are.

Claude was born in Louisiana in 1995 with albinism, which makes him appear completely white because there is no pigment in his skin. Combined with his poor eyesight, Claude was in danger from other predators in the wild. Albino alligators are extremely rare. In fact, there are only a few dozen albino alligators in the world, all of which are in captivity.

After spending some time at a Florida farm, Claude arrived at San Francisco’s Academy of Sciences in 2008, along with a green female alligator named Bonnie. Bonnie and Claude shared the indoor swamp for a year, but their relationship ended abruptly when Bonnie chomped on Claude's foot, resulting in Claude's toe being amputated. Bonnie moved back to Florida. But Claude stayed in San Francisco and has since become a local celebrity loved by all visitors from around the world. Claude sadly passed on December 2, 2025 just after celebrating his 30th birthday.
