Featured Tools:
- Knife 01: Grimsmo Norseman
Known for their guillotine-like action, the Grimsmo Norseman is no stranger to the knife community. From their unique design to their aerospace tolerances, this blade serves as an essential tool in my EDC. It handles anything and everything I throw at it, and I have the utmost confidence that it will serve me well in the years to come.
- Knife 02: Michael Raymond Starlit
One word: Perfection. Anyone who has ever handled a knife from Michael Raymond understands that the level of quality put into this tool is no joking matter. The design is extremely functional with its thin hollow grind and ergonomic integral handle. The quality is beyond words.
While the price tag may deter the majority of the community, no one can deny the attention to detail and perfection that Mr. Raymond has achieved in this knife, and I am extremely humbled and grateful to be able to own one of his pieces. And yes I do use it (; because at the end of the day, it is a cutting tool like any other.
- SAK: Victorinox Pioneer Alox
I had lost my trusty Victorinox Cadet about a year ago and had been looking for a replacement since. Once I noticed the Pioneer in a small knife shop in Modesto, CA, in my favorite color, I knew I had to have it. I carry this Pioneer for the purpose of utilizing the many tools that it provides, as well as to have a knife that I can use in situations where I need to be inconspicuous. Great choice for carrying if you want an all-in-one package for your EDC needs.
- Flashlight: Maratac AAA Titanium Flashlight
I love this flashlight for its size, build quality and features. It has multiple settings for brightness which I find to be extremely beneficial. Although most phones have flashlight capabilities, I still find it essential to carry a compact, reliable flashlight that you can trust will serve you in times when you need it most (i.e. when your phone dies).
- Watch: Seiko SKX007 Diver
This was my first major watch purchase, and after doing thorough research on which one to buy, I am more than happy that I chose this one. Diver’s watches have always been my favorite style, and the SKX007 fits the bill with quality and accuracy without breaking the bank. Plus, there are a plethora of potential modifications that can be done, so you can customize yours to your liking.
Background:
My name is Nik and I am based out of Huntington Beach, CA. I am currently enrolled in Pharmacy School and employed as an Intern Pharmacist. I also sharpen knives as a side job for extra cash.
While most of my time involves studying and working, I do take joy in playing drums and billiards, as well as spending quality time with my friends and family.
I got into EDC roughly 4 years ago when my father gifted me a small Buck slip joint. Then as I started making money I became more interested in higher quality items and worked toward expanding my knowledge of anything and everything EDC.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite has to be the Michael Raymond Starlit. Knives have always been my number one focus in terms of EDC, and I have yet to own a knife that is this perfectly suited to my needs and desires.
The size is perfect for the majority of daily tasks. The handle is one solid piece of titanium, making it extremely durable, and disassembly is a breeze. It runs on phosphor bronze washers with a bushing system, which minimizes maintenance and any chance for failure. Everything is finished beautifully and it has touches of noire timascus which make it very photogenic as well. There is literally no limit to the number of positive things that I can say about this piece.
Next On Your Gear Radar:
I currently do not have anything on my gear radar, but if it had to be something, it would definitely be another knife.
