Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
As a bushcrafting enthusiast, Jarek (@drjekyll84) instinctively understood the importance of having the right gear for the right job. That same ethos extended to his choice of items to carry, where every tool has its rightful place and task. Read on to find out more about Jarek’s well-rounded and perfectly matched urban everyday carry.
Featured Tools:
- Knife: Spyderco
My favorite knife is my Spyderco. I love its small size and the stainless steel edition matches perfect with my other gear. It’s one of those knives that you can open really easily and quickly, and the Spyder edge is perfect for opening packages and other daily cutting chores.
- Lighter: IM-Corona Old Boy
This is the perfect lighter for pipe smokers.
- Flashlight: Olight S Mini Baton
This is a small flashlight with a lot of power and different modes. Also, the titanium version matches perfectly with the other pieces in my daily carry.
- Pen: Diplomat Pen
Whenever I write, I use a Diplomat ink pen. I like it very much because it makes your handwriting better.
- Harmonica: Hohner 580
This blues harp is something to entertain myself in my free time.
- Ring: Skull Jewels
This silver ring is a handcrafted by Ulli Ehlers from Skull Jewels right here in Germany.
- Wallet: Skallen Goods
The wallet is made by Skallen Goods. He’s a friend of mine living in Scotland who makes wonderful leather goods. I really like the compact size and minimalistic design. I only carry my ID, driving license and some money with me.
Background:
My free time is spent making pictures. I love photography and bushcrafting. That's why I got into EDC. I started having bushcraft gear and recognized how useful it is to have the right gear with you.
After some time, I began to look around for inspiration online through EDC sites and blogs. It never fails to amaze me at how much thought and care other guys use and put into their EDC.
Also, I love it when things match together. That’s the reason why I chose the gear in the picture. This is a typical urban EDC for me. Something to cut, something for fire (I’m a pipe smoker), something to light, something to write, something for the style and entertainment and a minimalistic wallet in my pocket.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite is my Olight flashlight. It has a perfect design and the quality is amazing. After a knife, the flashlight is one of the tools I use the most of the time.
When I get out of the car, it’s pitch dark so I have to light up the way home. When you go into some darker rooms you always need a good flashlight to light it up. Whenever people see the Olight, they always ask about it because of its amazing design.
Next On Your Gear Radar:
The next knife I need in my EDC is a Zero Tolerance knife. I really like the quality and design of their knives and the fact that it’s American made. The model I’m after is the 0456 which is made together with Dmitry Sinkevich, of which the design is absolutely outstanding.
Hi Paul, I think I can help.
