Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member from our community and the gear they rely on everyday. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
This week, you're in for an epic treat. We have Auston (@epicsnugglebunny) from Utah who works in the finance industry. Auston is the man behind the incredibly popular YouTube channel where he does in-depth reviews of knives, watches and other EDC gear. Read on to see what Auston chooses for his personal carry!
Featured Tools:
- Knife: Liong Mah Warrior 2
As a knife collector and reviewer - my primary interest is in high quality production knives. While I indulge in the occasional custom knife, I really love top-end production knives like the Warrior 2. It has a hand ground blade, superb fit and finish and amazing tolerances.
- Light: FourSevens Preon P1 Copper
As far as EDC goes, a flashlight is a necessity. I got this Preon P1 in copper at the recent BladeShow and the patina is just starting to form. It's functional, attractive and offers immense value. I'm also a big fan of the tail clicky because it's faster and easier to operate.
- Watch: Lew and Huey Orthos Diver
The Orthos Diver has a unique faded red dial, which is irresistible and has great wrist presence. The brand owner is a friend from Watchuseek forums, and it was the Orthos diver in this eye-catching red and grey combination that really swayed me over.
- Wallet: Two Finger Design Tall Minimalist Wallet
I've been carrying minimalist, front pocket wallets for almost 10 years - and I've no intentions of going back to those thick and bulky wallets. This is a prototype, and I had some creative input to its design. The quality of the leather and craftsmanship ensures that it'll last a lifetime.
- Pen: Zero Tolerance
A pen is probably my most used piece of gear. Be it taking notes, making lists or signing receipts - I use a pen everyday. The 0010Ti is probably my favorite pen because of its sheer built quality and design.
- Keys: KeyBar
Although key organizers are not absolute necessities, they're still functional and cool. When I ran into Mike of KeyBar at BladeShow, he looked at my KeyBar and shared that it was one of the first few he made by hand in his shop. The keychain link was taken from a chain off his dirt-bike.
Background:
I've been interested in watches and pocket knives since I was a young boy. It was my time as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout that really cemented my fascination with functional everyday gear.
When I was 12, I inherited a few pocket knives from my late grandfather. I thought they were the coolest thing and started carrying a pocket knife everyday for a few years - until the interest gradually wore off.
In college, my best friend inherited a rifle from his late grandfather. He convinced me to forgo my next reptile purchase, and buy a gun instead so we could shoot together. Firearms led me to concealed carry, which in turn brought me back to pocket knives, flashlights and other EDC gear. Everything eventually came a full circle.
In my free time, I review EDC gear on my channel. I also enjoy weight training, reptiles, firearms, watches and spending quality time with my wife and dog.
Favorite EDC Tool:
I'm first and foremost a knife enthusiast, so the Warrior 2 is my favorite tool. However, watches come a close second. I'm completely enthralled by their functionality, design and the amount of thought and workmanship that go into creating these engineering marvels.
