Featured Tools:
-
Knife #1: Romano Lanny’s Clip
This slipjoint knife is a work of art. It’s modeled after the legendary Tony Bose pattern, and was made by the Brazilian knife maker, Romano. His finishing is perfect, right down to the satin bolsters and hand rubbed CPM154 blade. While some might consider carrying two knives excessive, I enjoy having both a modern locking folder and a traditional slipjoint. It just gives me more options to play with throughout my day!
-
Knife #2: Tom Ferry Insidious Folder
This is a handmade custom knife by Tom Ferry and it’s been an excellent performer so far. Tom is a Master Smith in the American Bladesmith Society, and does amazing engraving work in addition to making knives. This blade features Tom’s self authored Damascus steel, and the handles are engraved with his signature basketweave pattern. The blade steel is Z-FiNit, which is some high-tech, NASA steel that Tom has sourced.

Light: Muyshondt Aeon Mk. III in Mokume Gane
This is truly a sight to behold, and it’s one of the prototypes from the Opus collection of the recently reviewed Aeon Mk. III (check out my YouTube channel to see that review). This light is one of my favorite EDC lights of all time. It has a very well balanced output with excellent throw, beautiful tint and incredibly long runtimes. The Mokume Gane really sets it off, especially with the patina that has since developed.

Wallet: Ashland Leather “Fat Herbie”
This is one of the best wallets I’ve ever used. It’s big, but it sits really thin and flat in the pocket. It carries everything without being bulky, and it looks super sharp. It's made of Horween Shell Cordovan Leather, and has held up beautifully while still allowing me to make my mark on the piece. If properly cared for, a Shell Cordovan wallet will easily outlast you.

Watch: Stowa Flieger Klassik Watch
This classic flieger is made by Stowa. They’re a German based company that supplied the Luftwaffe pilots with watches during WW2. The design has remained relatively unchanged since the 1940’s, and it runs on a beautifully decorated manual winding Unitas movement. There’s even a see-through case back for you to admire the movement with. This watch trumps many of my other watches in terms of value.
Background:
My first introduction to EDC was through Nutnfancy’s videos on Youtube. I was immediately hooked because the idea of being prepared really resonated with me. I’ve always been curious and interested in the concept of an EDC, so I decided to try it out. However, it wasn’t until 5-6 years ago that I discovered that there was a huge and vibrant community dedicated to this passion of mine.
In addition to being a photographer, I also enjoy traveling. My wife and I are about to embark on an extended road trip around the US. I’m excited to see how my EDC will evolve as I transition into a lifestyle on the road, where I’ll be depending on my gear much more heavily.
In my free time, I also love to read about knives, gear, taking pictures and enjoying good coffee.
Favorite EDC Tool:
The Ferry Insidious is my favorite tool. Firstly, it’s a knife that manages to be both amazingly beautiful and superbly functional. It works hard and it looks good while doing so. Secondly, I was involved in the process of designing it along with a good friend of mine. As such it bears even greater value and that is truly irreplaceable.
