Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
Born and raised in Ogden, Utah, Landon (@rockymountaincarry) used to be a competitive bodybuilder and powerlifter. Nowadays, he works in marketing and business relations and spends his time with his family. Read on to find out how Landon first got into EDC and learn about his fascination with Victorinox Alox models.
Featured Tools:
- Knife 01: Kizer Feist
I like this front flipper for so many reasons. It's beautiful, it doesn't look too scary clipped on to dress slacks, it’s large enough to handle any cutting tasks that may come up throughout the day and small enough to disappear into the pocket when I want it to. I give a lot of presentations and do this often. It also happens to be my favorite fidget toy.

Knife 02: Victorinox Swiss Army Knife
This is a customized compact model with a screwdriver, stone/acid washed tools and titanium Swiss Bianco Scales done by Ricardo Garcia. I dress every SAK I own with an Ammo lanyard from my friend Bart Smith @bugoutbart. They can usually be seen hanging out of my pocket as a pull tab. -
Flashlight: Klarus Mi7
I love the blasted titanium finish on this thing. I strongly urge those who do not EDC a light to give it a try going into these darker months and see just how often it gets used. I think most people will be surprised. - Pen: Fisher Space Pen
This is the Bullet model in black titanium nitride. I usually have an inexpensive clicker pen on me readily available and one of these deep in my pockets. I'm in and out of my car and different offices a lot throughout the day and take a lot of notes on the move.
- Keys: Titanium Keybar
Key organizers are a must for me. Cluttered noisy pockets are just savage anarchy. I like Keybars because they are stout and offer a pocket clip.
Background:
My name is Landon Waters and I currently live in Ogden, Utah where I was born and raised. I work in marketing and business relations for a very large retailer. I used to compete in bodybuilding and powerlifting but now I just exercise enough to stay in decent shape and spend most of my free time doing activities with my family and reading.
I got into EDC in college when my friends and I went on a camping trip. I ended up using my pocket knife so much that I decided to start taking it with me whenever I left the house for school and work.
That was my only EDC item for while. A few years later my best friend passed away and his brothers and I took turns picking from his knife collection. I went straight for a shiny one with his name engraved on it. That knife ended up being my favorite style and the first in a perpetually growing collection of Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, more specifically Alox Cadets.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite item in this lineup would have to be the Victorinox SAK. Just so many useful tools in one.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
I have near identical setups in aluminum, brass, and copper. There is just something attractive about different metals and finishes as a way to add variety to mundane daily activities. I would really love to add a pen from SCHONDSGN to the collection and a custom #bwsak from BRASSWERX.
