Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
All the way from Ingolstadt in Bavaria Germany, we chat with Patrick (@padraig785) who works as an electrical engineer in the automotive industry. Due to his occupation, it's no surprise that Patrick knows his way around tools and that his pen is his most used item in his rotation. Read on to find out all about Patrick's carry and how he puts them to work!
Featured Tools:
- Knife: Thys Meades Mini Dino
I very much like traditional patterns in knives especially with modern materials. The Mini Dino does offer all that for me. The utilitarian blade shape is capable of every task in my daily urban life. I use it prep food for the kids when we’re on the go, open packages and letters and the usual stuff.
- Flashlight: Okluma DC0 Titanium
This is my most recent iteration in the realm of flashlights. Before the DC0, I was carrying the DC1 which is awesome too, but like the DC0 more because of its form factor and how it sits in the pocket. The tail click for me is the most natural way to operate a flashlight and it provides enough light for any day to day task.
- Pen: Prometheus Writes Alpha Titanium
This is my favorite EDC pen of them all. It's also the oldest of all my EDC pens in the collection. I love it, because it's perfect for longer writing sessions or sketches in the office. It has no mechanism that might cause problems and the fine-liner refill from Mont Blanc is perfectly smooth to write and do technical sketches with.
- Wallet: Recycled Firefighter Front Wallet
I try to keep my EDC slim, therefore I use the Recycled Firefighter just to keep all the cards I need together. I don’t need cash because I usually use digital cash with my smartphone.
- Watch: Steinhart Ocean One 39 GMT Black Ceramic
This automatic watch is also my only watch, I represents for me everything that I really need and want in a watch. I love the submariner-style case due to the fact that I’m scuba diver and have always been fascinated witch this kind of watch. Due to its size it is easy to carry and suits every occasion.
My story:
My name is Patrick, I’m 35-years-old, a dad, and I live in Ingolstadt in Bavaria Germany. I work as an electrical engineer in the automotive industry.
I first got into EDC because my mom gave me my first pocket knife when I was 10-years-old. It was a white Victorinox Mini with a red cross. Since then, I was hooked with knives. After I graduated, I got more into EDC. I started to refine my carry by trying out different wallets, watches and key organizers.
I'm mostly a family guy. I do a lot of water sports and I'm a big Martial Arts enthusiast (Judo). I love to scuba dive and I volunteer as a swift water rescue technician for the red cross. But mostly I try to spend quality time with my family.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite Item is my Prometheus Writes Alpha Pen, because I have to write a lot on a daily basis and it is so much fun to use. My pen is by far my most used Item in my carry.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
Next on my list would be handmade Barlow slipjoint with a clip point blade.
